Building Stones of the Gaywood Valley

The ruined church at Bawsey uses typical local stonework.

The stones used for building within the Gaywood Valley area are diverse, ranging from the soft chalks and carr-stone to the tougher flints and Iron-pan. The attached documents discusses the main stonework used and provides pictures to allow those interested to identify the stone types in situ.
