Lecture about society investigation of AirRaid Shelter

On 16th June the Archaeological society and members of the public carried out test-pitting in the Grimston area. We were lucky enough to have Carenza Lewis from Cambridge University (who also appears on Time Team) assisting us with the excavations on this weekend.

Grimston was well-know in anglo-saxon times as a source of a distintive green-glazed pottery and our test pitting revealed an abundance of sherds of this type of pottery. One of the test pits was located in the garden of a private house and an interview with the owner can be heard below.
